Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Student safety is very important to us. The start of the school day begins at 9:00 am and there are no staff members to supervise children prior to 8:50 am.
Therefore, students should not be dropped off at school prior to these times. Any student arriving to school after 9:20 am must enter through the Middle School Main entrance door and sign in at the security desk.
Arrival
Students being dropped off must be walked across the bus lane by an adult. Students should not cross the bus lane alone.
The arrival time is at 9:00 am and students may enter their classrooms.
Students who arrive at 8:50 am to eat breakfast at school should report to the cafeteria as soon as they enter the building.
Morning Bus Duty Main Entrance
A staff member will supervise the students entering the building each morning at the main entrance 8:50 am - 9:15 am. The staff member will greet students and remind them to walk, and go straight to the cafeteria for breakfast or to their classroom.
Dismissal
Dismissal bell is at 4:10 pm – all students, and students being picked up will be dismissed at this time.
Early Dismissal
Parents who pick up students early, must report to the middle school office first and sign the students out for early dismissal. Parents are not allowed to pickup students directly from the classroom. Parents must wait until the students walk down to the Middle School Main Office and the student will be released to their parents by a staff member.

Overview
Parents are vital stakeholders at Palmer Park Preparatory Academy. They hold the key to their child's academic success because they are the first educator and partner. Parent involvement in education correlates with higher academic performance and school improvement. When schools, parents, families, and communities work together to support learning, students tend to earn higher grades, attend school more regularly, stay in school longer, and enroll in higher-level programs (National Education Association).
At Palmer Park, we have built multiple platforms for parents to share their talents and skills through PTA meetings, Social Media, Parent Forums, Microsoft TEAMS, and Collaborative Conversations. At Palmer Park we are committed to investing in our parents as they have invested their children and time with us.
PowerSchool
PowerSchool Parent Portal
The PowerSchool parent portal provides parents with direct access to student data via the Internet. Using a confidential ID number and password provided by their child's school, parents can create their own PowerSchool account using a web browser or the PowerSchool app and view their child’s data, such as progress reports, attendance records, report cards, transcripts and more. During account creation, parents can create their own unique username and password. The credentials listed on the form from the school will link the student to their parent's account.
To log on to ParentPortal:
1. Open the webpage
2. Enter Username and Password, click “Log In”
The first time you login to the PowerSchool app for your phone or tablet, you will be asked to enter the District's unique four digit code: PSNW
If you have not been issued a Username or Password, or are facing challenges with your password, please contact your school for the required login information.
Parent Teacher Association
Dear Palmer Park Preparatory Academy Parents, Teachers, and Community Members,
On behalf of the Palmer Park Preparatory Academy (P3A) Parent Teacher Association (PTA), we are writing to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year, to share our vision for the upcoming year, and to ask for your support in bringing our vision to fruition. We had an outstanding 2023-2024 school year at P3A! A few of our accomplishments included: supporting a variety of school events like the Trunk or Treat party, End-of-Year Field day, and the 8th grade dance. Our role as a PTA is to build community, support and augment P3A initiatives, support and appreciate the P3A staff, provide feedback to the school, and to assist with long-term measures to sustain and improve our school. As we look towards the upcoming year, we want to build on what we did last year and accomplish even more.
To make our vision a reality, our top priority this year is getting more parents and teachers directly involved in the PTA. To make it as easy as possible to be involved, we are asking that every parent and teacher do the following:
1. Join our PTA and pay your dues.
2. Sign-up to volunteer for an event/activity this semester.
3. Complete the volunteer form for the district.
4. Attend a PTA meeting or other PTA event.
In addition to our Executive Board, we have committees focused on beautifying and activating our outdoor spaces, fundraising, and coordinating volunteer efforts. If you have any interest in joining one of those committees, please let us know.
As the old adage goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” We feel honored to be a part of your village and to have you as a part of ours. We look forward to an outstanding year and hope that you will join us in our efforts to make the P3A PTA the strongest in the City of Detroit and beyond.
Sincerely,
P3A PTA Executive Board
